The Dutch town of Meppel maintain a city relation with the Czech city of Most. This contact between Meppel and Most is established at the initiative of the Rotary Club Meppel. With beautiful promises of cheap new housing, the city of Bruchk was demolished and rebuilt a few miles further. The church is moved in a whole about 400 meters. There were made, as in many Eastern cities, large numbers of apartment buildings, where all residents could find shelter. Most is now almost entirely existing of high buildings. The backward swamp area becomes gradually again covered and under control.
